4 Strange HVAC Sounds that Require a Call to a Rockledge, FL Air Conditioning Repair Service
It’s normal for an AC system to make some noise, such as a click when it turns on and a gentle whir while it’s running. These sounds are familiar and usually, they blend into the background and you really don’t even notice them. However, sometimes, an air conditioner can make unusual noises, and those unfamiliar sounds may be trying to tell you that something is wrong with the system.
If you notice any of the following sounds coming from your Brevard County AC system, don’t delay; schedule an appointment with a Rockledge, FL air conditioning service right away.
Screeching or Squealing
A screeching or squealing sound is a serious cause for concern and warrants a call to a Brevard County air conditioning repair service. These sounds are pretty distinct, and they can indicate that a fan belt in the blower needs to be replaced or that the motor needs to be lubricated. If you hear these noises, turn your AC system off and call an experienced technician from a reputable Rockledge, FL air conditioner service will be able to properly diagnose and repair the problem.
Clanking, Rattling, or Banging
When your AC system turns on, do you hear a clanking, rattling, or banging sound? If so, that could be a sign that a component in the motor or the blower is either damaged, loose, or disconnected. To avoid the risk of further damage, shut down the system and call a Brevard County air conditioning repair service. These are issues that should only be addressed by a licensed and experienced air conditioner repair technician.
Smacking
If your AC system is making a loud smacking or “thwapping” sound that seems to come and go with the airflow, something could be stuck in the fan blades of the blower. That sound can be pretty annoying, and the object that’s stuck in the fan blades may impede the function of the furnace.
It’s also likely that the obstruction will speed up the wear and tear of the unit, which means you may need to end up replacing the system sooner rather than later. It’s best to err on the side of caution and call a Rockledge, FL air conditioner service.
Buzzing
A buzzing sound is another cause for concern. If you hear this noise coming from your Brevard County AC unit, it could be a sign of some pretty major issues, such as a malfunctioning compressor, an issue with the electrical components, or a refrigerant leak that’s making the unit freeze. Any of these issues can be devastating to an AC system, so if you’re hearing a buzzing sound, a call to an air conditioning repair service is an absolute must.

Rockledge is the oldest city in Brevard County, Florida. The city’s population was 24,926 at the 2010 United States Census, and is part of the Palm Bay−Melbourne−Titusville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Rockledge was officially founded on August 7, 1887, making it the oldest incorporated municipality in Brevard County. The name Rockledge, attributed to Gardner S. Hardee, an early settler, comes from the many ledges of coquina rock that line the Indian River. Other sources refer to a man named Cephas Bailey Magruder, who built his home after settling in the area in 1876 near the Indian River. Magruder called his home ‘the rockledge home’ and the name was eventually attributed to the whole town. It was originally referred to as Rock Ledge; the two-word name persisted through the 19th century.Early industry in the area was based on the citrus trade and accommodation for tourists traveling to South Florida via the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway of the Indian River.
President Grover Cleveland and his wife visited the city in 1888.
The town had several large hotels in the late 19th century to the early 20th century that catered to Northern tourists escaping cold winters. These included the Hotel Indian River, the Plaza, and the Rockledge Hotel, all located north of Barton Avenue, looking out over the river.
